Committees and Delegations

Industry, Research and Energy Committee ((ITRE)
Romana JERKOVIĆ (S&D, HR) has been appointed S&D shadow rapporteur in charge of drawing up an opinion on the document “Shortage of medicines: how to address an emerging problem”.

Miapetra KUMPULA-NATRI (S&D, FI) has been appointed rapporteur for the data strategy rapport.

Directorates-General

Competition (COMP)
Cecilio MADERO VILLAREJO replaces Eric VAN GINDERACHTER as Director of Directorate G (Cartels).

Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion (EMPL)
Mark SCHELFHOUT replaces Francisco MERCHAN CANTOS as Director of Directorate G (Audit, evaluation and communication) in an acting capacity.
Katia BERTI replaces Jeroen JUTTE as Head of Unit A1 (Employment and social aspects of European semester) in an acting capacity. JUTTE moves to Head of Unit B5 (Romania and Bulgaria) replacing Cendrine DE BUGGENOMS. DE BUGGENOMS replaces Bruno LEMAIRE as Head of Unit G1 (Audit direct management, discharge).

Eurostat
Gonzalo CARRASCO BARNETO replaces Alvaro DIEZ SOTO as Head of Unit A1 (IT Governance, Service and Relationship Management). The former was filling the role in an acting capacity.

EU Institutions, Agencies and other

Council of the European Union
Jeppe TRANHOLM-MIKKELSEN is likely to remain Secretary-General. The decision is awaiting formal confirmation in a written procedure. TRANHOLM-MIKKELSEN was appointed Secretary-General in 2015 and his current tenure lasts until 30 June this year.

European Court of Human Rights, Council of Europe
Icelandic judge and current vice-president Róbert SPANÓ, has been elected president. He will replace Linos-Alexandre SICILIANOS (EL) on 18 May.

British Chamber of Commerce - EU and Belgium
Former UK MEP Daniel DALTON has been appointed new CEO.

Swedish Forest Industries
Henrik SJÖLUND, President and CEO of Holmen, has been elected Chair.

President Kersti KALJULAID has appointed Raul SIEM to office as the new minister of foreign trade and information technology replacing Kaimar KARU who stood down from the post last week.
