Norbert Neuser (S&D, DE) has informed Parliament of his departure in January 2022.

Political Groups

Renew Europe
Stéphane Séjourné (RE, FR) has been elected by the group as their new leader. Séjourné ran unopposed and the result was announced at the session in Strasbourg this week. Dragoş Tudorache (RE, RO) and Nicola Danti (RE, IT) have replaced Sylvie Brunet (RE, FR) and Michal Šimečka (RE, SK) as vice-presidents.

Committees and Delegations

Members

Andrea Bocskor (NI, HU) joins the Special Committee on Foreign Interference in all Democratic Processes in the European Union, including Disinformation (INGE).
Francesca Donato (NI, IT) joins the Petitions Committee (PETI).
Evin Incir (S&D, SE) joins the Mediterranean Delegation (DMED) as a member instead of a substitute.
Lucia Vuolo (IT, EPP) joins the Transport and Tourism Committee (TRAN).
Stefania Zambelli (ID, IT) joins the Special Committee on Beating Cancer (BECA).

Substitutes

Laura Ferrara (NI, IT) joins the Special Committee on Foreign Interference in all Democratic Processes in the European Union, including Disinformation (INGE) as a substitute instead of a member.

Commissioner Cabinets

Cabinet of Maroš Šefčovič
Carsten Schierenbeck joins the team as a Member of Cabinet. His responsibilities include better regulation and simplification, impact assessments and evaluations, public consultations and calls for evidence, relations with EU decentralised agencies and relations with national parliaments.

European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF)
Jana Cappello replaces Olivier Salles as Head of Unit 02 (Policy Coordination and Communication) in an acting capacity.

Structural Reform Support (REFORM)
Christoph Schwierz replaces Riikka Torppa as Head of Unit B1 (Revenue Administration and Public Financial Management) who was covering the role in an acting capacity.

Other EU Institutions and Agencies

European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA)
Anna Katrami replaces Jean-François Junger as Head of Unit B2 (Digital) who was covering the role in an acting capacity.

Public Affairs

EuroCommerce
Christel Delberghe has been appointed as the Director-General, replacing Christian Verschueren. Delberghe is currently the Executive Director for Competitiveness and Communications will assume her new responsibilities from 15 November.

National News

Germany
Almost a month after the elections, the Social Democrats (SPD), Free Democrats (FDP) and the Greens have begun official coalition talks. Over the coming weeks, the three parties will send their working groups to discuss and negotiate points. Olaf Sholz, SPD’s likely future chancellor, has announced that they are aiming to have a coalition agreement by the end of November with a new chancellor and government before Christmas.
