The European commissioners talk to the Parliament Magazine about the priorities that will shape their mandates.

European commission first vice-president Frans Timmermans is ready to support Juncker every step of the way. He tells us, "sometimes we need to get out of Brussels to understand what citizens really care about". He promises that, "in the elections we heard people across the union tell us they want change". As the commission president’s right-hand man, he will help oversee a college that insists it is united. "We will not have 28 separate agendas, with officials operating in their own corner. We are working together, pooling expertise and energy, and making sure we deliver policies that match our priorities", he says. But team Juncker is still set to tackle a wide range of issues, from development to energy, gender balance to employment and growth. Read more about their plans for Europe in this issue.
