Jerzy Buzek, chair of parliament's industry, research and energy committee, introduces our cover story on EU cluster policy by underlining that "reindustrialising the EU's economy is central to overcoming the crisis". He also highlights the importance of "fostering cooperation between academia and industry", a key feature of parliament's seventh framework programme for research.
