Today, we face a changing working environment. While full-time employment remains the most prevalent, other forms of work such as contract work and self-employment are on the rise. These diverse forms of work now account for 40% of the EU workforce.
The Europe 2020 strategy recognises entrepreneurship and self-employment as key for achieving smart, sustainable, and inclusive growth. However, the crucial next step is to have a European employment strategy that focuses on creating more, but also better jobs and opportunities throughout the EU as well as an environment where entrepreneurs can flourish.
Entrepreneurship and self-employment may be mistakenly related only to economic activities and business creation. However, it is much more than that. How can one create a 'sense of initiative and entrepreneurship', which is one of the eight key competences for lifelong learning defined by the EU? How can the EU support lifelong learning for entrepreneurs? And how can it promote an ecosystem that nurtures entrepreneurship and self-employment?
In this webinar, we’ll explore the potential next steps that policymakers can take to unlock the EU’s entrepreneurial potential and bring about more and better jobs for all.
