Call to Action on Familial Hypercholesterolemia

Cardiovascular disease is a major killer in the EU, with shocking figures in terms of deaths and associated costs. However, cardiovascular disease is often not diagnosed until serious complications arise.

Familial Hypercholesterolemia (FH) is a genetic disorder, characterised by high levels of “bad cholesterol” (LDL). It is a high-risk condition that can expose affected people to heart attacks at an early age, even in childhood.

FH is estimated to affect at least 1 million European citizens, but awareness is low and the diagnosis rate remains below 1% in the majority of EU countries.

Christian Buşoi MEP & Karin Kadenbach MEP are therefore delighted to invite you to the launch reception of the Call to Action on Familial Hypercholesterolemia.

The Call to Action is endorsed by European FH patient organisations and medical experts and aims at raising awareness of FH and improving patient outcomes across the EU, by proposing initiatives at both EU and national level.

The event is organised with the support of Amgen and Sanofi Regeneron.
